In the third quarter of 2024, the music and podcasts app landscape in the Middle East showed varying trends across the top five applications. Data from Sensor Tower highlights the performance in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users on a unified platform, combining both iOS and Android metrics.

YouTube Music from Google saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, peaking at approximately $170K in the final week of September. Downloads began the quarter strong, with over 44K in early July, but experienced a gradual decline, ending at around 32K by the end of September. Active users remained relatively stable, with a slight downward trend from over 4.4M to just above 4.1M.

Anghami: Play Music & Podcasts, published by Anghami, had a notable increase in weekly revenue towards the end of the quarter, reaching about $96K. Downloads, however, showed a steady decline from nearly 24K in early July to approximately 16.5K by the end of September. Active users also saw a decrease, dropping from nearly 500K to around 380K.

Spotify - Music and Podcasts demonstrated a consistent increase in weekly revenue, closing the quarter at nearly $47K. Downloads mirrored this trend, starting at about 75K in early July and gradually decreasing to around 61K by the end of September. Active users experienced a minor decline, from over 2M to approximately 1.86M.

Deezer: Music Player, Podcast reported steady weekly revenue growth, ending at over $14K. Downloads were modest, peaking at 2.3K in late July but generally staying around 1K. The active user count showed a slight decline, from about 14.3K to 12.2K throughout the quarter.

Woohoo - Voice Chat&Play Games, although primarily a gaming app, had a presence in the music and podcasts category. Its weekly revenue varied, peaking at approximately $12.4K in late September. Downloads decreased from over 6K in early July to about 4.7K by the end of the quarter.
